Georges Vernay

The Guardian of Condrieu

Georges Vernay is a legendary name in the Rhône Valley, credited with rescuing Viognier from near extinction and shaping the modern identity of Condrieu. Founded in the 1950s, the estate remains one of the benchmark producers in the region, known for crafting exquisitely aromatic and textured white wines. Today, Georges’ daughter, Christine Vernay, continues the family legacy, producing wines of incredible finesse and depth.
The estate’s Viogniers, particularly the iconic “Coteau de Vernon,” are some of the most celebrated expressions of the grape, combining floral elegance with vibrant minerality. In addition to their whites, Vernay’s Syrahs from Côte-Rôtie are equally revered, displaying remarkable precision, balance, and aging potential.
